We offer one-to-one befriending and group dog walks

What is the CareDogs befriending service?

Our service offers:

  • A local safeguarding-trained, DBS checked volunteer and their dog who will go for regular walks with you

  • Access to our events to encourage community connections with other clients and volunteers

If you sign up, you will:

  • Meet a CareDogs volunteer and their canine friend

  • Increase your physical mobility with a regular walk

You are eligible for our service if you:

  • Are over 55

  • Like dogs but don’t have one of your own

  • Are physically able and looking to get out and walk

  • Live in our current operating boroughs of
    South London: Croydon, Bromley, Lewisham,
    Southwark or Lambeth

Our process

Initial Chat

We welcome you into our community and get to know you and your lifestyle better.

Pairing with a
volunteer and their dog

We match you with your own CareDogs companion, a trained, friendly volunteer (and their dog) who you can get to know over your first dog walk together.

Long-term partnership and support

Your CareDogs companion, and their dog, will meet you regularly for dog walks in nearby green spaces.

Part of a community

As part of the CareDogs community, you’ll also be invited to our events in your local area.
