My Experience as a Group Walk Steward

My Experience as a Group Walk Steward

A self-confessed dog lover, our Head Group Walk Steward, Koren, tells us why volunteering with CareDogs is her 'pawfect' role...

As someone who likes to stay busy and happens to absolutely adore dogs…volunteering with CareDogs is a no brainer for me.

I’m the Head Group Walk Steward; my main duties include, attending our group walks to ensure all participants are safe and ensuring I keep the group together. I instruct all Group Walk Stewards to spread out amongst the group on the day so that I can send any communications to the rest of the team if needed.

Volunteering with CareDogs has been an even better experience than I thought it might be - I get to meet new and interesting people, but most of all, I get to make a fuss of all the dogs!

The CareDogs team is amazing and fun to work with. Did I mention there are dogs to cuddle with? When we attend fundraising events, the team works together to make it fun while spreading the word about the charity and our mission.

I discovered very quickly how valuable CareDogs is to our clients. They enjoy the contact made by our befrienders and CareDogs - they get out for a walk and a chat while enjoying some canine companionship. Many people have felt isolated, especially since the pandemic, and this is a wonderful way to relieve that issue.

I would recommend CareDogs and constantly do, to anyone, especially if they love dogs, which I do. Did I mention I love dogs!? Haha

I am immensely proud to be a part of the CareDogs volunteer team, and the difference we are making within the community.
