Celebrating Trustee Week!

Celebrating Trustee Week!

We celebrate Trustee Week this November, and we want to say a big thank you to the wonderful people who guide our charity. Trustees are volunteers and bring with them their expertise and experience to support CareDogs. Alex Scotland, who is on our Board of Trustees, brings a wealth of financial expertise, and tells us why he gives his time and talents to CareDogs.

“Before joining CareDogs I often struggled with wanting to do good but being a bit shy about getting involved and not feeling like I had the time to join in. CareDogs was the perfect opportunity for me as it allowed me to put my skills in accountancy and finance to use in a flexible and meaningful way.

My main responsibilities include managing finance-related matters, such as the annual report and bank accounts, and supporting budgets and grant writing. What I find especially interesting is working with others in the charity on questions they have regarding cash, tax or anything numbers!

I’ve learnt a lot whilst being a Trustee - a little bit of your time can make a massive difference and communication is key when bringing together volunteers with different skills and backgrounds.

The work that CareDogs does in the community is important and I am always moved by the testimonials from our volunteers and clients alike - it feels good to help others!”
